Implied Intimacy

Steel Lamp

I understand perception as something shaped through light received by the eye, interpreted by the brain, and translated into emotional and spatial awareness.

The quality of light directly influences behavior and mood. In domestic spaces, warmer and dimmer light reveals texture and color, establishing a balance between light and shadow that encourages comfort and rest. In contrast, workplace lighting is cooler and more evenly distributed emphasizing focus and productivity.

Implied Intimacy is inspired by human interaction; sharing a moment and space with someone can energize us and bring us closer. When we become aware of a beam of light, we collect information that allows us to recall the past and imagine the future. Implied Intimacy offers an opportunity to experience craftsmanship through interaction, as the rotating frame allows the light to be fixed as either direct or indirect illumination.

As the light shifts, perception shifts with it offering moments of reflection that collapse past experience and present awareness. Finished with a patina and wax, the surface records both process and time, reinforcing the relationship between material, light, and human presence.
