Toxic Short Film
Written, Produced, and art direction by, Solángel
TOXIC follows Gia, a Black trans woman, navigating intimacy and identity during the COVID-19 pandemic. A simple at-home date night becomes a surreal journey, blending reality and fantasy through the art of performance to explore the emotional and societal challenges faced by Black trans femmes.
Drawing inspiration from Michael Jackson’s Thriller, the film interweaves myth, dreamlike imagery, and dance to visualize resilience and self-discovery. Through TOXIC, I aimed to create a space for empathy and dialogue, highlighting the strength and humanity of trans experiences while challenging heteronormative narratives.
