Interlude

Record Player Table

Interlude grew from repeated moments of quiet ritual sharing wine, conversation, and music around a record player with friends. I wanted to design an object that would both support and elevate these gatherings, serving as a functional centerpiece while emphasizing the intimacy of the experience.

The table is constructed from welded steel in a perfect square, supporting a frosted pale blue glass top. The square center is highlighted with orange spray paint, marking the area of focus and providing a designated space for records when they are not in use. Small steel wine holders hang on the sides of the table, integrating beverage storage directly into the form and reinforcing the social function of the piece. The steel frame provides structural clarity and durability, while the frosted glass softens the geometry, creating a subtle interplay between solidity and transparency. The exterior is finished with patina and wax, adding tactility and depth to the piece.

Interlude functions as both object and stage anchoring moments of connection while allowing the rituals it hosts to unfold organically.
